Maruti Suzuki is preparing to shake up the Indian SUV market once again, but not without risk. In the coming months, the country’s largest carmaker is expected to launch two crucial SUVs—the all-electric Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and the updated 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Together, these launches could decide whether Maruti stays ahead of rivals or starts losing ground in a rapidly evolving market.
One promises a clean-sheet electric future. The other must prove it can still matter in an overcrowded segment.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: The Brand’s Most Important Launch in Years
Expected to debut in January 2026, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be the company’s first all-electric SUV for India—and possibly its most scrutinized product ever.
Built on the dedicated Heartect-e EV platform, the e Vitara is expected to offer two battery options: a 49 kWh pack and a larger 61 kWh unit. The bigger battery is claimed to deliver a driving range of over 500 km, placing it directly against upcoming electric SUVs from Tata, Mahindra, and Hyundai.
What makes the e Vitara critical is not just its electric powertrain, but its feature strategy. The SUV is expected to offer Level 2 ADAS, a large touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats—features Maruti has traditionally been slow to adopt.
If priced aggressively, the e Vitara could finally change the perception that Maruti lags behind in technology. If not, it risks being overshadowed before it even hits the road.
2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza: Playing Safe in a Ruthless Segment
The second launch, expected around May 2026, is the facelifted Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Unlike the e Vitara, this update is evolutionary, not revolutionary.
The 2026 Brezza is expected to receive minor cosmetic updates, refreshed interior trims, and new technology features—most notably Level 2 ADAS, which is fast becoming mandatory rather than premium in the sub-compact SUV segment.
Under the hood, Maruti is expected to stick with the 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine paired with mild-hybrid technology, along with a possible CNG option. While this ensures reliability and fuel efficiency, it also raises a concern: will “safe and familiar” be enough in 2026?
What Comes Next for Maruti SUVs
Beyond these two launches, Maruti is also working on a 7-seater Grand Vitara and a hybrid Fronx, though both are expected only in late 2026 or 2027.
For now, the spotlight is firmly on the e Vitara and Brezza. One is a bold step into the electric future. The other must defend its turf against relentless competition.
The next few months will reveal whether Maruti is truly evolving—or just delaying the inevitable.
