Hyundai didn’t redesign the Aura for 2026.
It didn’t add a turbo engine.
It didn’t announce a “next-gen” upgrade either.
Yet in January 2026, the Hyundai Aura became more expensive—by up to ₹12,365, depending on the variant.
So the obvious question is: what changed, and is the Aura still worth it?
Same Car, Higher Price — But With a Catch
The 2026 Hyundai Aura sold in India is essentially a continuation of the current-generation model. A full-generation change isn’t expected until around May 2027, which means buyers today are paying more for a familiar package.
However, Hyundai has quietly added a few feature upgrades, especially to the SX variant, to soften the blow.
The SX trim now gets:
- Projector headlamps
- Fully Automatic Temperature Control (FATC)
These changes may seem minor, but they are aimed directly at buyers who prioritize comfort and night-driving visibility.
Still, this is not a major refresh—it’s a price revision with selective feature compensation.
Engines That Focus on Efficiency, Not Excitement
The 2026 Aura continues with two proven powertrains:
1.2L Naturally Aspirated Petrol
- 83 PS / 114 Nm
- 5-speed MT or AMT
- Mileage: ~20.3–20.5 kmpl (ARAI)
1.2L Petrol + CNG
- 69 PS / 95 Nm
- 5-speed MT only
- Mileage: ~28 km/kg (ARAI)
These engines are tuned for city comfort, low running costs, and reliability, not performance. For most urban users and fleet operators, that’s still the Aura’s biggest strength.
Safety Is Where the Aura Still Shines
Despite the price hike, Hyundai deserves credit for standardizing six airbags across all variants—a major advantage in the sub-4m sedan segment.
Other safety features include:
- ABS with EBD
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
- Vehicle Stability Management (VSM)
- Hill Start Assist (standard on AMT)
- Rear parking sensors
- Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
Few rivals offer this level of safety as standard, even after the price increase.
Practicality Remains Unchanged—and Strong
With a 402-litre boot, 2450 mm wheelbase, and comfortable rear seating, the Aura remains one of the most practical compact sedans in India. Rear AC vents, wireless charging, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay keep it competitive for daily use.
Should You Worry About the Price Hike?
If you were expecting a new-generation Aura in 2026—yes, this will disappoint you.
But if your priorities are:
- High safety
- Low running cost
- Comfort-focused city driving
- Petrol and CNG flexibility
…the Aura still makes sense, even with the higher price.
